WASHINGTON — CIA director Leon Panetta is warning his employees that leakers will be investigated and possibly prosecuted after a flurry of reports in the media about the technology and methods used to track and ultimately kill Osama bin Laden.
In a memo obtained by The Associated Press, Panetta told staff Wednesday that the disclosure of classified information to anyone not cleared for it — reporters, friends, colleagues in other agencies or former CIA officers — can endanger lives.

So, Leon, nice White House mandated re-direct. Its not coming out of Langley, its coming out of the oval office. This is all spiking the football and for use in 2012. After all, once the WH leaks this and it is open source - it is fair game.

It's time to arrest people that leak the information and "if" convicted bring out a firing squad and shoot them because they will end up costing US lives in future attacks.

Panetta is correct to stop the leaks but he needs to be speaking to the White House and its political operatives--it is clear that Obama put our military at risk not for national security but for his re-elction bid
A more or less liberal Democratic friend of mine who lives in Dallas--there are actually such in Dallas--told me during my recent visit to Dallas that for once he agreed with Dick Cheney, who, my friend said, criticized the president for the Navy SEALS's not interrogating Osama bin Laden, rather than killing him on the spot.
Except that my friend's take on bin Laden's capture, which he has shared with his Republican friends in Dallas, is that bin Laden was NOT killed immediately but taken to the USS Carl Vinson and interrogated--and possibly tortured--there and then killed and buried at sea. Some of his Dallas friends say it makes sense to them.

This it would appear than with the first real open success the US has had in this region that the only information allowed will be from those who upon leaving office sell to the highest publisher. Leaks are a healthy part of any government and keep the story from being one sided. Among the actual military Mullen has no credibilty. He was made JCS precisely because he had no experience in Asia and was a political hack in uniform. Anyway if CIA/DOD/Wh and others were really concerned about 'leaks' etc they need only to go to any government contractor or government trade show and they will get all of the information they would ever need. Get on the GSA schedule and the government will insist on giving it to you and to really sure it falls into the wrong hands have it provided to employees who are foreign nationals.
If they didn't want people talking about the most spectacular raid in recent memory, they shouldn't have carried it out. You can't have it both ways. The biggest value accruing from this raid was the positive publicity it garnered for the CIA, DoD and Pres. Obama (though truth be told, he had very little to do with it other than giving the thumbs up). People will want to know, and others will want to tell. The CIA and DoD should tell all, and show the pictures. This raid wasn't carried out for Mr. Panetta, ADM Mullen or Pres. Obama. The raid was carried by and for the American people, and the American people should know what happened.

First, CiA and Seal Raids have happened over many administrations, The only thing that has significantly changed over the last 10 years is the Who that is in the White House. I don't think that it is the CIA that is doing the leaking, it is the White House and its staff, in order to keep our newly crowned "Fearless" leader in the news as the hero. The Director telling his group to keep things under wraps is to deflect the negative impact of letting the emimies of the US know what and how we do things, what we now know. Amazing that we tell them we know their game plan, and where they are. Do you think that might help them evade and avoid capture? The Corps of Engrs blew 3 levees in Cairo, IL and flooded the Mississippi to soften the ground in the NEW MADRID EARTHQUAKE zone from Memphis to St. Louis, but they may also set off a bomb in the Gulf to flood the entire south with ocean water containing Corexit. FEMA recently ordered MILLIONS of "underwater" body bags & MREs with "New Madrid" on the paperwork, now stored in Louisiana.
The HAARP weather machine in Alaska will be used or maybe scalar weapons. There's also a danger that the returning space shuttle will be blown up.
