Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was quick on the draw Thursday in voicing clear displeasure with President Barack Obama’s
mideast policy speech.
“Israel appreciates President Obama’s commitment to peace,” the response began, curtly. “Israel believes that for peace to endure between Israelis and Palestinians, the viability of a Palestinian state cannot come at the expense of the viability of the one and only Jewish state.”
“That is why Prime Minister Netanyahu expects to hear a reaffirmation from President Obama of U.S. commitments made to Israel in 2004, which were overwhelmingly supported by both Houses of Congress.”
“Among other things,” Netanyahu reminded Obama, “those commitments relate to Israel not having to withdraw to the 1967 lines which are both indefensible and which would leave major Israeli population centers in Judea and Samaria beyond those lines.”
“Those commitments also ensure Israel’s well-being as a Jewish state by making clear that Palestinian refugees will settle in a future Palestinian state rather than in Israel.”
“Without a solution to the Palestinian refugee problem outside the borders of Israel, no territorial concession will bring peace.”
“Equally, the Palestinians, and not just the United States, must recognize Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people, and any peace agreement with them must end all claims against Israel.”
“Prime Minister Netanyahu will make clear that the defense of Israel requires an Israeli military presence along the Jordan River.”
“Prime Minister Netanyahu will also express his disappointment over the Palestinian Authority’s decision to embrace Hamas, a terror organization committed to Israel’s destruction, as well as over Mahmoud Abbas’s recently expressed views which grossly distort history and make clear that Abbas seeks a Palestinian state in order to continue the conflict with Israel rather than end it.”

How can a country begin peace talks by giving everything away. Jerusalem cannot be turned over to the Palestinians. I still remember what happened to the Church of the Nativity when Palestinians took it over. Just look at what is happening to churches in Egypt. The same could happen to holy Christian sites in the areas that Obama wants to give to the Palestinians. He doesn't speak for the vast majority of Americans who remember our history and shame for turning away ships carrying Jews trying to escape Hitler. We said never again. Obama needs a history lesson on the Middle East. Prime Minister Netanyahu don't even consider Obama's ideas.

Did Jordan occupy Palestine before Israel? Maybe Palestine should prove they are indeed the Roman descendants of Palestine and produce some paperwork from their former Palestenian governments. I say Roman because everyone knows there has never been an Arab Palestine. Palestine is the Roman word for Philistine. The words are similar like Iran and Aryan. Some people think it's OK to say you are somebody without any paperwork to back it up. I hear people from Kenya and Indonesia believe things like that. Did I mention both my parents are American citizens? It's not that big a deal but it does qualify me as a natural-born citizen. Where were we? Oh yeah! Egypt has gone back on the Peace Accords... The U.S. is going back on its agreement... SO... had been the stipulations for return for the Sinai. Since the deal is off, take back the Sinai and the oil fields that Israel discovered and developed. Become energy independent and have a source of ongoing revenue. Egypt is in disarray and can't defend it... Tell the U.S. that you no longer need U.S. aid (due to new oil revenues), and control your own destiny; Israel then need only count on itself (which it can). What does Bush have to do with the borders of Israel? Why attribute authority over Israel borders to the president of a foreign country? What the PM is implicitly saying is that US presidents have the ultimate word over what your borders should be.And all the other demands for assurances (Arab recognition, Israeli presence along the Jordan river) mean absolutely nothing in the real world of ME politics and the demented and bloodthirsty ideology that respects nothing but a greater military force. Israel must not give up a single inch of territory. Arab governments come and go, empires rise and fall. But Israel must be forever.
