WASHINGTON – The White House says the U.S. and NATO will continue military operations in Libya as long as Moammar Gadhafi keeps attacking his own people.
President Barack Obama met with NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen (AHN'-derz FOHG RAHS'-moo-sihn) at the White House on Friday.
The White House says in a statement that the two agreed that the NATO-led mission has saved countless lives.
Representatives from the anti-Gadhafi Libyan Transitional Council are in Washington to meet with U.S. officials at the White House later Friday. Obama is not scheduled to join them.
The U.S. has been increasing its financial support for the opposition, but is not recognizing the Council as Libya's legitimate government.

Why is it always the United States having to intervene in these matters? It's alway us. We have enough on our plate, not to mention all the domestic issues at hand.

Questions.... Who are the "rebels"? What do they stand for? What do they hope to achieve? Do they have a leader? Could the U.S be supporting more terrorists in this trumped up war? I'm not ready to support this Libyan war without end without more info. Come on A.P. do some investigative reporting on the rest of the story.

Since when has any real dictator given up power unless forced to? They either have lost the support of their military to control the citizens and there is a military coup, or someone has breached their security and blown their brains out. Those seem to be the only ways they are ever removed from power.

Anybody who has taken the oath of enlistment in the US military knows why the military even exists in the first place. For those who don't know, it's "..to defend the Constitution of the United States against all aggressors..." We can't keep trying to send our military in to be a world police force when the world doesn't even want to police itself. Or help foot the bill for that matter.

always a double standard - these whackos can kidnap chop heads off - but but no one is allowed to say or draw a picture - we are not even allowed to see the old WARNER BROS. LOONEY TOONES with flying carpets evil sheiks etc etc etc - they are a sick group in the mid east - we are in the 21st century - they never caught up - not because "we" did not let them - because they were and still are being brainwashed

I would rather live in a world where anyone who uses the term, "jihad", needs to apologize to the rest of US, not the other way around.
