White House in lockdown after smoke bomb threat

The White House was locked down this afternoon as authorities investigated what appeared to be a smoke bomb that was tossed over the fence of the White House compound, a Secret Service spokesman said.
The device was tossed over the fence at one point when about 1,000 to 1,500 “Occupy DC” protesters were demonstrating outside the White House, Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie said.
He said authorities were taking “appropriate measures to clear it.” He also said that a majority of the protesters had left the area and that there had been no arrests.

Maybe it’s time the president addresses some of the OWS grievances. So far all he’s done is ignore them hoping they’ll go away. History has shown during the civil rights movement and the Vietnam protests that they are not going to just “go away” until their voices are heard.

If the White House is on lock-down, then how did Obama get out to visit Disney World – only to have them lock-down and close-off Main Street during his visit? People who have paid tickets were given no notice that Main Street will be closed off to them.
If they have to lock down every location where the clown stands, then what’s the difference here?
