DEATH BY GOVERNMENT: GENOCIDE AND MASS MURDER

DEATH BY GOVERNMENT: GENOCIDE AND MASS MURDER
All told, governments killed more than 262 million people in the 20th century outside of wars, according to University of Hawaii political science professor R.J. Rummel. Just to give perspective on this incredible murder by government, if all these bodies were laid head to toe, with the average height being 5', then they would circle the earth ten times. Also, this democide murdered 6 times more people than died in combat in all the foreign and internal wars of the century. Finally, given popular estimates of the dead in a major nuclear war, this total democide is as though such a war did occur, but with its dead spread over a century

DC COMICS VIA ASSOCIATED PRESS In the latest of issue of Action Comics, Superman renounces his U.S. citizenship because of concern that his actions are seen as instruments of U.S. foreign policy. The latest sign of the end of the “American Era” or just a comic book publisher’s publicity stunt?

In a new story line, Superman renounces his U.S. citizenship because he is “tired of having my actions construed as instruments of U.S. policy.”

The Kansas farm boy turned superhero, long considered a pop-culture embodiment of small-town patriotic values, makes the announcement in this week’s issue of Action Comics, telling the president’s national security adviser that “truth, justice and the American way” is not enough anymore.

“I intend to speak before the United Nations tomorrow and inform them that I am renouncing my U.S. citizenship,” a frustrated Man of Steel tells the American official.

DC Comics on Thursday released a statement that seemed designed to quell the growing furor over the story, saying Superman “remains, as always, committed to his adopted home and his roots as a Kansas farm boy from Smallville.”

But the shocking development left fans and many in the comics industry scratching their heads.

Rich Johnston, a British columnist and blogger who covers the comic book industry at BleedingCool.com, said Thursday that DC Comics may have underestimated the impact of Superman’s comments about citizenship, which take place in a short story that appears in the back of Action Comics No. 900, a special anniversary edition.

“As soon as I saw it, I knew this was going to be big,” he said. “But I don’t think there’s any hint of a conspiracy here. There’s really no sense that this is part of a marketing scheme or a publicity stunt by DC.”

He said it’s not even clear whether the story, written by screenwriter David Goyer, who penned both of the recent blockbuster “Batman” movies, is part of the ongoing continuity of the character or just a one-shot take by a big-shot Hollywood writer.

“It’s possible that it’s just an interesting story that David Goyer wanted to tell,” he said.In the story, Superman flies to Tehran and positions himself as a silent peacemaker between armed security forces and pro-democracy demonstrators. Though he takes no action against police, the Iranian government turns the superhero’s symbolic intervention into an international incident, claims American interference and calls Superman’s presence an act of war.

Steve Anderson, owner of Annapolis’ Third Eye Comics, said modern comics often feature political subtexts, but he points out that even the 1930s origins of the Superman character are inextricably intertwined with the immigrant experiences of his Jewish-American creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

“Superman’s story is the ultimate immigrant story,” he said.

The superhero’s decision to distance himself from his adopted homeland, however, is fueling a fierce debate online, with many international fans cheering the move.

One French fan of BleedingCool wrote: “As a non-American, I agree with the decision of Superman. He is more than an American. He is a symbol of peace, justice and humanity. He is no more the puppet toy of one country.”

But the Man of Steel’s cold feet left some Americans furious: “He was never a natural born citizen anyway. … Go back to Krypton,” one disappointed fan wrote Wednesday on Fox News’ website after the story broke.

As a "Super" celebrity, Superman undoubtedly earns more than $250,000 per year. Due to the class warfare imposed by Congress and the Executive branch, and the new Presidential math where $250,000 = Billionaire, Superman has decided to expatriate, renounce his citizenship and move to a more tax friendly nation. This is not unique to Superman,

"Many more Americans just take their money and leave; never, as they say, "telling the jailer that they have gone." In fact, the US Bureau of the Census estimated that in 2005, over 350,000 US citizens and permanent residents would quietly leave the United States permanently (reported by the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services - BCIS - of the Department of Homeland Security; formerly the Immigration and Naturalization Service – INS). But a series of Zogby polls, between 2005 and 2007 indicate that the problem is much worse. Zogby estimates the number of Americans permanently leaving the USA to be more than 3 million each and every year."

Like the wealthy, Superman has the financial security (and super flying powers) to move wherever he wants. This is similar to what happened on a local scale in MD, when the economically incompetent gov't passed the Millionaire tax resulting in an exodus of millionaires to Northern VA and lower tax revenue for MD.

Let's just hope that Batman doesn't figure this out, I hear he's a wealthy Billionaire under that cape and cowl.

nooh2012 1 comment collapsed Collapse Expand This is very sad. Basically Superman is giving us the finger. It seems OK though to put our troops in other countries to die fighting to spread the "freedoms and democracy" that we represent, but Superman doesn't feel we are worthy to fight for. There are people who die trying to come to our shores looking for the opportunities that we provide. But, Superman no longer wants to "represent"? I wonder, with our troops reading about this, how do they feel? Do they no longer want to be construed as instruments of US Policy? Shall we all abandon ship and let our country rot and take millions of peoples dreams and livelihood with it?

labec 1 comment collapsed Collapse Expand Superman has always been my personal hero. He has beautiful manners and I was always so proud of "Truth and Justice in the American Way". Now, thanks to Obama, there is no Truth and Justice and the American Way has been taken away. Who knows, if He keeps on, I may follow my hero. I cannot follow Obama down the toilet.

Rick_Watcher 1 comment collapsed Collapse Expand Superman stood for truth. Now the body of the people only believe and tell lies.
He fought for justice. Justice is no longer the rule of law but the rule of political correctness, political favoritism, and the word of activist judges.
The American Way is now, I want mine and forget you. The American way worked well for 150 years until socialist, communist, progressive, godless people started rewriting our history, indoctrinating our people beginning at the most vulnerable time in their school years, reinterpreting our Constitution to fit their own agenda and destroying our biblical foundation. I believe in the beginning Superman lived by the rule, Love your neighbor as yourself.
It used to be said, "If you don't love it leave it."
If the foundation is destroyed the building will fall.

America is, for the time being, the sole bastion of democracy: Not a hybrid such as Europe’s SOCIALIST-democracies. The longer Obama with his two-dimensional presidency occupies the Oval Office the demise of American democracy shall accelerate.

Obama, his comrade Democrats and others bent on America’s downfall will drool over this Superman issue.

rodney007 1 comment collapsed Collapse Expand Cliches, childish name calling and blather because people disagree with your 5 cent nonexistant factual analysis? Ignorant because of controvery which the President exacerbated himself? His own Grandmother stated she watched him being born in Kenya. Does that not raise any eyebrow? See what the Nation becomes under BHO's tutelage--directionless on a global scale, debt ridden, divided with more racial animosity than ever before, engaged in more wars, and promoted class warfare on taxes where only half the Nation shares the tax burden. Walk a mile in someone else's shoes.

Collapse Expand Thanks, you proved my point, Suzette. Did I mention anything about Obama's birth certificate or call him a Muslim? Indeed, not; this, however, proves you did not read the article or my post but chose instead to go on a bilious and childish rant.

May I advise that you work on comprehension or perhaps take some anger management seminars. I don't mind someone taking issue with me; however, the out-and-out ignorance and intolerance that you have displayed is pathetic.

"Besides, after all the good that Superman has done for fictional America, can’t real America cut him some slack when he decides he wants to save people all over the world, not just fight crime in Metropolis? Are apparently American ideals of truth, justice and liberty dependant on possessing US citizenship?"
